Greeks will need to show courage and faith in their own abilities in the New Year, New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Saturday after attending Epiphany Day celebrations in Tinos.

“The young guys who jumped into the frozen waters to retrieve the cross showed courage and faith. Two virtues that will be very useful to us as we enter 2018,” he said after the ceremony.

“Courage to overcome the difficulties, to fight our inner weaknesses but also faith. Not just in our religion, values and traditions, but mainly an internal faith in our own abilities to overcome difficulties, to make it, to claim a better Greece we all deserve,” he added.
